Ruby as a little Geisha girl

Little Geisha with her father the Sumo

Ruby with a few of her cousins

We had the greatest time last night. I think it's so fun to get all dressed up and go all out. Our costumes were a hit at our ward's trunk or treat party. Ruby's was given to us by my step mom who travels to New York several times a year. She and my dad picked up this adorable outfit for Ruby (before she was even born), complete with matching shoes! I ordered my and John's costumes online, but several of the accessories, like my shoes, the umbrella, Ruby's chopsticks and baby doll, we got in China Town on our trip to San Francisco a couple of weeks ago.
Unless Ruby and I were right by John's side, most people at the party didn't even recognize who we were...especially Ruby with that black hair and dark eyebrows. In fact, one woman in the ward told John that she thought Ruby and I were really Japanese; and that before John pointed us out to her, she had been about to go and introduce herself. She must have seen us from a pretty good distance to actually think we were visiting from Asia. Nonetheless, our costumes were pretty good and we enjoyed showing them off!

Seriously, I didn't recognize you guys either. Your costumes are awesome. Ruby doesn't even look like herself with dark hair and a painted face. I didn't know who it was in the first pic until I read the caption. Good work!!

Oh my word, those are fabulous! That doesn't even look like Ruby. I am glad she is American, even though she is adorable as a geisha.

That is so fun. I love your costumes! John's made me laugh. I wish I could get Paul to do something fun like that. He always wants to be something scary and gorey(sp?).

LOL. These pictures are SO GREAT! I LOVE your costumes! John as a sumo wrestler - hilarious! And you and Ruby are the prettiest little Geisha girls. I was dying of laughter when I read that someone actually thought you were visiting from Japan. I lived in Japan for 2.5 years, and most of the women there do not dress in traditional kimonos anymore. (Though, some of the older mama-sans do, on occasion. Depends on where they're going.)

Anyway, you guys ALWAYS have a ton of FUN!

I hope that I can be as creative and fun with my kids (when I FINALLY get to have some kids!)

LOL. Too, too funny and too, too fun!
